A lot of the confusion you see online comes from misinformation about what Content ID is and how to clear it, particularly as there are so many Content ID partners administering it in haphazard ways.

The process of screening content online is becoming standard practice to separate genuine customers from those who are using the content illegally. Companies like Google are basically now asking to see your ticket before you go in to the cinema.

In the world of YouTube, Content ID is used by companies like AdRev to identify where music is being placed, while other companies screen the videos to monitor how copyrighted video is used (bear this in mind if you see a company other than AdRev in the claim as your video might be being flagged for something other than the music you’ve purchased here).

With AdRev, it’s very quick and easy to clear claims for the music you purchase from Instrumental Background Music. Remember that third-party matches are only applied to videos uploaded to YouTube. Other usages, like on TV, games and film, aren’t currently affected by this.

Remember that clearing your video can take up to 24-96 hours to process, although it is usually much quicker than this. Once the process is complete, the video will be cleared of the AdRev claim and and you’ll be able to do things like monetize your video without issue.

How to clear your channel of AdRev claims
